Now for the execution!

Ok I'm getting nervous/aprehensive now. My schedule is tight I'm totaly going into the unknown, I know I'm a seasoned traveler but somehow there's so much that can go wrong here. I have this fear they wont let me into the country because of certain political conections. Then there's the issue of meeting up and traveling with the others, I know they are lovely people but how will they take to this 45 year old idiot? Tonight I've checked I've got all my tickets, flights-hotels-bus-train-concert, damn there's about 10/12 of them. I'm sorted though I think.
I also did a check against my credit card statement and a tot up of the final bill. It's a bit better than I thought, It's come in at £1963 then plus spends so I'll def come in under 2.5 grand, result!!
Now for the execution.

Quasi show, Manchester

I've bugged Tim and Bev to come with me and see Quasi in Manchester next month. My persistence has paid off, they've said they'll come. Tim and I have been too many gigs down the years, but this is the first time I've really nagged him to come and see a band he doesn't know. Damn I'm nervous now hoping he'll like 'em. I'll loan him the new album next week to get him aquainted.

The Gossip

Went to see the Gossip in Manchester last night. Wow! they were ace, it was poss the hotest day ever too 36 degrees. Got talking to a girl from New Zealand who was a hardcore Gossip fan. She was at S-K's day at ATP (to see the Gossip) so was chatting to her about all things S-K and Gossip, anyway her and myself settled front right of the stage in front of Beth. When they came on she just went nuts, so there was nowt else I could do but go nuts too. Both of us just rocked our asses off the whole set. During one song Beth came over to me and clasped fingers with me and sang at me Yay! We were both absolutly drenched at the end, great though.

JAPW.

Must admit I forgot to post this. With all the activity goin' on in S-K world it just slipped my mind (sorry Joan)
Went to see Joan As Policewoman in Liverpool Barfly on Fri night. This is one tallented musician, very good indeed. The only problem being there were only approx 100 peoploe in the room. What is wrong with people? next door there was a New Order tribute band playing and that was packed. Pisses me off at times things like this.
Anyway had a chat with Joan after the show she played a tribute to Elliot Smith, so I had a chat with her about ES and said I'm gonna see Sam and Janet(Weiss, S-K's drummer) next month (Quasi) who were Elliots backing band. Lovely lady, good gig, bloody poor attendance.
Sorry but I couldn't find a pic from the show so this'll have to do.

Jeez another Portland show

I knew this would happen, they've anounced another Portland gig. Fortunetly it's Aug 12th the day after the other one. I haven't booked my flights yet so I'm ok to get to this "final" show.
Tickets go onsale Sat 1pm Pacific time, that's 9pm here I think. Pressure on again.

An Update.

I have tickets for all four shows, I have accom booked for NYC and Philly. Tonight I have booked a flight for the east coast shows. Liv-Dublin-Shannon-Philly, Yeah a bit of a journey I know but the return leg is direct to Dublin, so that's the best I could do. The New York option was just too tight a schedule,(thanks to Patrick for the info) so I've gone safe for the extra cash. This is taking a while to put together, but I'll get there, litteraly.

Next job flights!!

Ok an update NYC ticket comfirmed as mine from Korina. Philly already in the bank. DC tickets went onsale on Thurs managed to secure 2. Today the Portland tickets went onsale just as they did my bloody computer crashed, by the time I'd sorted it they were sold out of course. So a desperate SOS was posted on the board, within 30 secs a reply from harmofwill76 saying he's got me covered. Then Garrett mailed to see if I was sorted. Later a message from Korina checking if I'd got one. Then a girl in Scandanavia offering to help. Jeez it's staggering how well the "community" has come together on this, when you consider these are people I don't know, or have ever spoken to. It restores your faith in humanity. I don't know them but I love them. Next job flights!!

Two pieces of positive news.

It's 1 wk down the line, it was a tough one. I've been struggleing with the ticket situation hence I havn't been able do anything until they're secured.
Today though two pieces of positive news. I get a PM from sleater_kittie saying she has a spare ticket for the NYC gig, do I want it? YEEEEESSSS!! -- Result -- Thank you Korina.

Then a PM from Garrett saying he's gonna try to get 4 tix for DC, if he does I can have one of 'em.
Jeez these are 2 poeple I've never met/spoken to/or even know, apart from exchanging views on the board. This has restored my faith in humanity. If this works out then only Portland to go, that's gonna be the tough one.

3 Grand?

Like the idiot I am, I'm going to go with the whole trip. Yep to the East Coast dates then back, 9 days later into Portland, gig, out again. In the previous post I said flight to NY £350 ERM, NOT. I can't find anything less than £550 at the mo, it's starting to piss me off. I dread to think what Portland is gonna cost. My previous estimate of 2.5 grand is more like 3 grand.
On the bright side guess who's supporting S-K on the East Coast? THE ROGERS SISTERS, YAY!
