32 Year duck is broken!

Trivial I know (again) but after 32 years and more gigs than most people have had hot dinners I have my first set list. Went to see "You say party we say die" in Manch'r on Thurs'y. In fairness I wasn't expecting too much from this gig. I've been struggleing with their album a tad. Reason being I got it the same time as the Rogers Sisters one so it hasn't had much of a lookin I'm afraid.
Fair play though they were supper.
After the gig I managed to get Becky's set list and a brief chat with her. She also sighned my album sleeve.

Oh sh*t! I feel terrible now.

Damn!
Got an e-mail from Sean asking is the S-K gig still on this weekend in Bristol. With all the confusion about the venue change and ticket validity ect I've f**cked up. Sean wanted to come to Bristol and see S-K with me, but I've ordered a new ticket for the Fiddlers club and used my credit on the Fleece ticket to purchase the Glasgow one. I can't explain what a tw*t I feel, I just didn't think. I supose subconsciously I must have thought Seans got a new life now and wouldn't want to travel to Bristol on a bank hol to see my fave band. All the same I'm a f**ckin' idiot, I should have at least asked him.
I've got to mail him back now and tell him what a c**t I am.

Muses? Er! K more info please?

So here's the thing,
I get a mail from Kristin (TM mailing list) saying she's playing some solo shows in somewhere US town. Some 50ft Wave shows in Portland (center of the universe) & Seatle. OH! and a "Muses" show at a festival in Iceland.
Where the f**k did that come from? Muses? er, what line up? ect, ect.
Ok do I spend rucks of cash to see em in Iceland or wait to see if K comes to the UK?
If so Muses or Wave or solo?
Have mailed K direct to give me a clue.
This is a dilema.
As anticipated the TM board has reacted with vigor.

It's happened again

Remember last year?
I first loaded KRISTINS "Golden Ocean" into the cd player, and the opening chords blew me away? (March 15th) the rest is history.
Wed 1st June I buy an album called "The Woods" by some band called Sleater-Kinney. Again the opening track made my ears prick up-- the rest is history. (jeez that's an understatement)
Well I think it's happened again, The Rogers Sisters - The Invisible Deck, yep this has totally blown me away on first play.
2nd play sounds even better, if that was at all poss. I have a stunner here. So much so I've registered on their message board (no 16). He He!
People need to know about this punky, New York band, think Yeah Yeah Yeahs/Sonic Youth/Velvets. Tremendous!
I love this feeling so much it's better than sex.

The Online "Rainforest"

The online "rainforest" site where I order shit loads of stuff has sent me a mail asking how Caiman USA fared as a supplier. "Where's my f**kin' Autoclave CD?" I've been searching for this album for 18 months. It's probably shit, but I don't care it wil complete my Mary Timony collection. When I eventually get it.
Waiting on 5 albums off the big "A" at the mo, del date 15 May--10 June, JEEZ it would be quicker walking to the record company and waiting 6hrs, while they burn me a copy. That said I'm a man with patience (but not a doctor) when they eventually arrive it will be a surprise I suppose.
Ok 2.10 am, Sun. It's 15 days 'til S-K. I can't stop watchin' their live vids I've got. F**k me I can't wait to see 'em live again.
Currently on album no 12 for the evening, (The Shins, haven't played it in a while) the 13 album record will be beaten, I think!

How good is that?

So I've booked the train journeys.
Chester-Bristol-Leeds-Glasgow-Chester.
£79 bloody hell! I can't believe how cheap that is, and that is taking the direct Bristol- Leeds route, it would be £8.50 cheaper if I changed at Birmingham.
I'm starting to look forward to that trip now, I'll be knackered but worth it to see the ladies 3 nights running.

Thanks to the good people on the S-K board I've downloaded the Henry Rollins Show performance of "Entertain", realy good quality too. They rock!

In other news my "You say party we say die" ticket arrived today. Oh shit I must book the hotel befere I forget, and download some more of their stuff.

Life, Issues, & Trivia.

Ok mother phoned no shirt & tie needed, well that makes my last post look silly now. Still have to dress "smart / casual" though! whatever the f**k that means (ok I'm justifying the post now)
Aw! whatever.
For some reason I can't seem to send e-mails on my outlook exp's with attatched files, eg my blog address. It comes up as an error of no "user id" I've tried creating one but I get an error message on that too. Damn! Yet on my Hotmail it seems to work ok, Always pays to have a back-up system.
Ok Question? do the Spoon/Wolf Parade/New Pornographers albums qualify for this year?
I bought them back end of last year (in the year of release) but they were too late to qualify for last years list. Oh shit! I forgot about K's "Free Music" technically in the same catagory, sorry Kristin. Damn! this knoks back a few of the goodies of this year. I know Sean would say they don't, but yeah they do really.
These are the trivial issues in my life.

Ulterior motive?

Well phoned mother, will meet on Monday.
But for f**ks sake I have to wear a shirt & tie to go to the Golf Club
I can not tell you how much that pisses me off. What is wrong with this world,
why do people judge people in a civilised society by what they wear? Jeez that makes me want to wear the most,Oh I don't know. If f**kin' Ghandi turned up they would let him in, yeah but that's "religious" and therefore "sensitive" YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF F**KIN' HYPOCRITES.
Ok that's that issue,
NEXT--
There has to be an ulterior motive, she want's something or has an issue to discuss or something, yeah my cynicism is inherited.

Brighton?

Well I've been bebating in my mind wether to add the Brighton gig to my itinery. I could but it would cost a vast fotune. Don't think I will.
Went to the train station to enquire about the Chester-Bristol-Leeds-Glasgow-Chester run. Turns out it may not be as expensive as I thought, mm Brighton? I've reserved the Bris'l- Leeds-Glas'w-Chester routes for only £56, bargin. They couldn't give a price on the Ches'r-Bris'l leg, with it being a Bank Hol Virgin haven't put their reservations up yet. Got to go back next week.
Even if it's normal price £40-£50 it'll only bring the total journey to approx a ton. I thought I would be stareing down the barrel of £150
Must ring mum tomorrow to arrange a date for her show me the Golf Club and Erddig for a day out.
Must see if I can get to bed before 1:30am tonight (that's the earliest in the last 5 days)

S-K at Coachella

3.15am
Just watched a live stream of the S-K perfomancce at the Coachella festival. Jeez the ladies were on good form, despite Janet having a few prob's with her kit, which made her angry and drum even harder. How on earth she pounds away for 15 solid mins AT THE END OF THE SET is beyond belief, and Carrie having to deal with her guitar being out of tune on "Rollercoaster".
She also chose 1924 and 1822 for the "Entertain" lyric?? She changes it every time, to keep idiots like me trying to guess the significance of the chosen dates.
They played an awsome version of "Lets call it love/Entertain" Corin seemed to add a few differant riffs instead of Carrie just soloing for 4/5 mins.
Also "Sympathy" totaly rocked, oh yeah and "Step Aside".
Still amazes me that I'm sat here with a little box with a screen and I can watch a live perfomance of a rock'n'roll band being played thousands of miles away. When I say live I mean live, no delay on the transmit just "LIVE"!
I love this world at times.
