The Acorn.

Night & Day, Manchester, 10/9/08.

Liked the sound of this band when I checked them out so imported the album. Noticed they were touring so booked the N&D show. Usual procedure, had booked into the Crown so got there from work chucked in my stuff and set out to the N&D.

The place was not too full as I had expected due to the album not being out in this country yet.

Support was from a local band called Merchandise who were quite good, upbeat folk/rock band.
The Acorn are a six piece Canadian band who play a jangly folk rock. Their led by Rolf Klausener who is chief songwriter. As with most Canadian bands I see the musicianship was spot on, the whole band comfortable with their instruments.


Nearly all of the set played was the new album "Glory Hope Mountain". There were a couple of songs I did not recognise though. They were a really good 'together' band and orchestrated well by Rolf. I enjoyed them immensely.
After the gig I saw Rolf and a few members of the the band standing over in the corner so I went over to say hi and say how much I like their album. They were impressed that I had imported a copy and they all signed it for me. As I was about to depart one of the guys from Merchandise came over and asked if I was the guy who was taking photos. I was of course and he asked if Id send him the ones I took of them, which I did.
A good night again at the N&D.
